HI everyone, I hope you all had a great and lovely Sunday. I have noticed that out of the followers that I have, there are quite a number of inactive followers on here. I loooove the idea of people being interested in my blog, but if your initial interest has waned, or maybe you are inactive for other reason, I am personally asking that --if you are usually inactive and just happened to be drawn in to reading this intriquing post, and fit this description--that you discontinue the following of my blog please. With the new year, I want to have a clean blog as well. Maybe my blog topics just aren't for you, that is fine. I don't expect people to read and/or comment out of obligation. That wouldn't be fair...because I don't blog out of obligation, I blog out life, my life, and what I have to say about it.

I wanted to do this last year, like in December, but I wanted to log in a few other posts before I got to this one. I would be fine with having only 5 followers that read and/or commented every once and a while than a little over 44 with no proof to show of it (proof not necessarily meaning a comment. Proof meaning a comment or someone reading a post--even if they don't comment). I don't want to junk up your newsfeed, and I know you'd hate to be just a face decoration on my widget sidebar. Lol.

SOOOO!-- I will be waiting for a good while for some of you to drop followership, and if there are some lingering inactive ones, I will be blocking them (which I'm assuming is the equivalent of deleting someone?? Idk, I've never block ne one before). No offense, loves. But quantity is just not as important to me as it used to be.

P.S. If you are an active follower (you read, comment, or do both) Please drop a short line, e.g. "hi!', or something of the like in the comment box so I will not block you.

I have a visitor tracker in my sidebar, but do not know all of your geographical locations so I know some of you are reading :).*

Heya! I am an active reader;) Some people will read your blog without ever commenting though. That's what I've learned. People tell me they read my blog on the regular, which surprises me because they never leave a trace! It would suck if someone misses this post and then you block them whereas they really do love reading you;) Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteWhat a strange post! If someone unfollows clearly they are at least somewhat active since they've read this post and followed instructions.
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about setting your blog to invite only instead of blocking people who follow but don't comment?
idk, blocking seems... harsh? It is, after all, the internet. However, I have unfollowed. I'm hoping that is the courteous course of action.

@ Retro: Yeah I know, I would hate to do that. That's why I asked those who do read to just leave a hit on this one post, 'cause I see visits on my visitor tracker so I know some ppl are visiting but not commenitng, which is Ok. And those that I get no response from would be the ones that r truly "inactive".

@ Kris: My idea is just to see who is active, not push ne 1 away. Yes, it is the internet, but it is also my blog. The call to unfollow is not to those who don't comment, it's for those who do not read OR comment. I see what you're saying, but those who don't respond would show 2 be the inactive ones, wihch would still help me with the process. The ones who do read but don't comment are just asked to leave a short comment on this 1 post to notify me that they are still active, so I don't remove them. It is kinda weird, but still helps. Thanks for your honesty :).

i read your posts and guilty of not commenting--i do every once in awhile type in some words for you--i think it's great what you're doing for your blog--i don't take it personal if people are reading me or not--just knowing i'm reaching SOMEONE and making a difference is what makes my day--i see you on my followers list but don't expect you to comment--so on that note, please remain as my follower--i'm not for numbers either but knowing you're reading me is fantastikal!----remain blessed my friend!
ReplyDelete@ Essense: I never planned to stop reading your blog. I definitely don't expect everyone to do what I'm doing, I just feel the need to clear out. Like I said in the post, reading and not commenting is not the problem---someone having me on a newsfeed, and me having them on my list though they're not reading at all is. So the title hopefully will catch a usually inactive "follower"'s attention (once they see it on their feed), and they'll be drawn to read it and then proceed as asked. That's the idea :).

I have to agree with some of the other bloggers that this is an unusual request and I really don't know what to think of it especially since I am a very unpredictable blogger going months without a post sometimes...trying to get better at that though. Hpe this works out to your satisfaction.

ReplyDeleteI understand this may be strange to a lot of people. Be that as it may :).
Also, that's just it, If people are being idle and NOT reading...how am I "reaching" them? --- I'm not. *sigh*. I know this flies over the heads of many, which is quite alright with me, as long as my list becomes cleaner/more substantial in the end. As you can see (by my current follower count)--many still have not received the msg. Hmmm, I wonder why... *XD*.
